It was late afternoon when I found a spot to paint by the river, overlooking the blooms. Everything about the moment was beautiful, like a lovely Sonata on the piano. The kids next door at the yochien playing and talking, people picnicking, the sound of the water gently passing by, people walking on the walkway talking and admiring the scene we were all witnessing.

From that painting session I captured a few other photos I wanted to paint, “River Sonata No. 1” was created from those photos and experience. It was beautiful and emotional watching the petals fall and the petals floating down the river and I wanted to paint that.

“River Sonata No. 1” is grounding, soft, and peaceful. A beautiful little ode to simple, treasured moments.
