Sarnoski Avenue's Interlude
Sarnoski Avenue's Interlude
A popular spot on Yokota AB for photos of all kinds during the Sakura season, this was my first location for plain air (outdoor) painting of the cherry blossoms.
While I did not finish the piece on site, I continued to change and finish things over the next few years.
“Sarnoski Avenue’s Interlude” echos the idea of a pause between acts in a story or music themes. While this street can be very busy with school and work traffic, in the moment that I painted it, things were quiet and sparse.
This scene so delicately portrays the magical moment and days when the Sakura petals start to fall like snow, blowing in the wind.
