2021 was the first Sakura season of my life. I had one or two other paintings I did outdoors and was itching to do one in the morning, yet I had a young baby and kids that need me first thing. I got up early this particular morning to catch some of the dawn colors in the sky.

In this piece, you will notice a subtle shift in the blue of the sky from the sunrise and the tree tops outside my back door, a scene that has been a comfort and inspiration.

“Sakura Tree Tops at Dawn” captures the unique beauty of the Sakura trees at Yokota AB in Japan. Due to being diligently cared for and trimmed these 50-60 year old trees are much taller than is found around Japan.

I hope this piece inspires you to stand tall, ready for the new morning, grateful for the light and colors we enjoy each day.
