This is the first wildfire painting I created after I had my baby. I took an entire year off of painting. This was the culmination of a few nap times and forcing myself to loosen up and work quickly, because lets face it, those are attributes you have to learn as a parent sometimes.

I especially love this piece because it is one of my only night scenes with stars. The stars are very faint and cannot be photographed well, but when you see it in person they are delightful little surprises. The richness of this night scene is bold, at times maybe bleak, but the embers burning below and stars above remind us to never give up hope. It's a reminder that this time will pass, the fire will fade, and the sun will shine again.
