"Obstructing Day" is 30x48 inches, oil on canvas. 2014. This piece was part of my healing after a very difficult event I went through. There were moments while I painted that my mind would race and rehearse the difficult thing I had experienced. Sometimes it would make me stop painting. Other times, painting something large took me out of my own world and into the canvas.

It was only after I finished painting this that the title came to me and had so many layers of meaning. "Obstructing Day" is a strong image with an important narrative that can apply to anyone. Sometimes we let somethings we experience obstruct our life, our happiness and purpose. We have to choose to be optimistic and hopeful when our minds and hearts say otherwise. The vibrant blue sky and green vegetation are the hope and optimism I seek in painting these wildfire landscapes.
